Current Initiatives

Nairobi Believers Mission seeks to create pathways leading new converts/ believers into discipleship and ministry. This will help cater for the congregation’s spiritual development & growth.

All this we’re doing with the virtue of love as commanded with our Lord Jesus Christ:

  • Evangelism - 40 days of outreach & evangelism: This campaign involves 3-4 days a month across the year. In 2007 the campaign has borne lots of fruit already. The church is adding at an average of 3 souls each week. It is our mandate to follow up these new converts to see that they attend discipleship classes in order to understand their purpose in Christ. This initiative costs A$100 each month.
  • Women’s Ministry: Our women are passionate about Kingdom goals. The desire to see God’s Kingdom established in Kibera is driving them to establish influential fellowship groups. Pastor Gladys Otieno, (Ken’s wife) and Pamela Achieng are both leaders in this ministry. Income generating activities are also in the agenda of these women’s’ fellowship groups. Savings are made each week to build a sizable nest for future projects for each woman, to help begin the journey out of poverty.
  • Kid’s Outreach: This is the most vibrant part of our church. The programs are on the edge & are cross-cutting; spiritual, entertaining and educative at the same time. My wife Pastor Linda & Pastor Ken Otieno are both leaders (kids pastors) in this vital ministry.
  • Home cells: This is our back-bone ministry. Our vision is to spread ourselves within 5 minutes walk from every Kibera resident. Our present cell leaders are truly dedicated servant leaders.
  • Emerging Leaders training: As we continue to experience revival, the need to emphasize on raising leaders for the harvest cannot be ignored. Every fortnight the key leaders in NBM have been meeting to strengthen their capabilities, know each other more deeply and study leadership principles vital in their ministerial positions.
  • Sunday Celebration service: NBM’s celebration service attracts all kinds of worshippers and seekers. The Spirit –led services are dynamic & full of Gods’ power. The testimonies of what God is doing inn the community fills the service with praise.
  • Kibera Community Empowerment Project (KCEP): This is an initiative for evangelising the community though community ministry. It ranges from empowering small businesses, training community leaders and creating awareness of health issues.

Part of KCEP is our micro-finance initiative. We are trying to strengthen small businesses in the community towards economic empowerment program. Currently with the current church offerings, NBM has strengthened small businesses within our community by offering small loans. This anointing eases poverty pressure from God’s people (Luke 4:18).

Other specific projects and initiatives that require funding are detailed on our donations pages.
