A Vision for Transforming 1,000,000 lives A Vision for Transforming 1,000,000 lives

The Nairobi Believers Mission (NBM) is a young inter-denominational church ministry that was started in August 2003 with a group of believers as a house fellowship and continues to grow as we minister in one of the most challenging environments on earth - the slums of Kibera, Nairobi.

Our Vision:      To influence family & community transformation in Jesus name. (Isaiah 11: 1-9)

Our Mission:   Reach. Equip. Release. (Matthew 18 – 20)

Background (Kibera)

Kibera is one of the largest slums of our world today. Kibera has a population of nearly one million people housed on a 600 acre piece of land. Though the living standard is very poor, most residents are full of smiles, love and are very social.

We are on the verge of experiencing revival and community transformation. Families are being strengthened even as broken marriages restored. It’s evident that God is turning the fathers’ hearts towards their children.

These people don’t have access to clean water, proper sanitation and many other basic necessities. If employed, the average wage is $1 per day. Many children are left to fend for themselves within the slums throughout the day as parents seek employment.

Our Ministry

In the past Nairobi Believers Mission has been involved in: evangelism campaigns (ministering to over one hundred people weekly in schools and other institutions), drug reduction campaigns all over Nairobi, HIV/Aids awareness campaigns & training the community on care giving, sports evangelism, establishment of a Sudanese refugees mission, economic empowerment and Income generating activities.

Presently the NBM has a great team of leaders who are dedicated to serve God & people in this harsh Kibera environment. We work in partnership with other Christian churches & organizations in fulfilling our God given mandate to positively impact one million souls in this generation. Since having moved into our current site on 24th Dec 2006 we are already working the community through; evangelism, discipleship including leadership training.

Due to our aggression in outreach & evangelism, we had to expand our initial building in Jun –Jul 2007 for us to accommodate our ever growing congregation. The church now has room for over 200 worshipers and the building is already full.

We also partner with the community to offer education. The lack of proper education development and community training is now breeding a generation of children who have been left vulnerable to such threats like, lack of knowledge, exposure to diseases and violence committed against them.
